One does not need to have an EIN for an LLC if they operate as a sole proprietorship or an LLC with no employees. They can simply use their own Social Security Number as a Tax ID number. As a single-member LLC that is a disregarded business entity that does not have any employees and does not have an excise tax liability does not need to have an EIN. They should use the name and TIN of the single-member owner for federal tax purposes apart from the Social Security Number i.e. SSN.
